It’s been a (very) long time coming

I’ve been telling myself for years now that I should sort out my website. Other people have been telling me the same thing. I did at one point have a site I maintained, back in the day when writing JavaScript was a novelty, and CSS was emerging as a replacement for <font> tags. And people actually read it, surprisingly. But over time, it got forgotten about. Life got in the way… the usual excuses.

It’s certainly not through lack of trying that nothing’s happened in the past decade. I’ve tried countless numbers of times to get something off the ground, with varying degrees of success. But nothing’s come to fruition. Clearly.

I finally decided in December of last year that 2013 was going to be the year of Getting Shit Doneā„¢. Spurred on by Mark Surman‘s words at MozFest, I decided to approach this particular bane of my life with a resounding “Fuck it; Ship it!” mentality. I had some time off over Christmas — this shit was going to get real!

Of course, that never happened. I could blame it on being ill, or any number of other things, but ultimately… I’m a terrible client. I’m never happy with anything. There’s always some reason why something isn’t good enough. I apologise profusely in advance to anybody that ever has to work for me!

But I’m holding to my plan for 2013 and, remarkably, I’ve actually sorted something out. There will almost certainly be teething problems, and it’s very much MVP at this point, but I think that’s par for the course under the FI;SI mantra.

Of course, now I need to remember how to write!
